This is the treehouse my boys and I built together. Before we cut a single board, we sat down and made a plan, and they told me everything they wanted it to have: a rock wall, a pulley and bucket, a ladder, a sand pit. Then the whole family pitched in. Plan on a couple of weekends, and bring everyone, because the kids can help build it. It's made to last for decades: a 6 ft × 6 ft elevated platform on four posts set on concrete block footings, beside the tree instead of bolted into it, with railings, a climbing wall and an angled ladder, plus optional extras like the pulley and bucket, a sand pit and a ninja line. It also grows with your kids. You can add a second or third platform, a roof, or a swing set later. Ours already has a swing set on the request list, and the boys can't wait to paint it. The photos in the plan show the real treehouse in our yard.
